It has been brought to my attention many times, "Why is it that Reverend Elias does not have a website?".... in short, this blog is for him. His many requests for ceremonies were always from people who knew him by a family or friend. Whether you call him for a ceremony or just to simply talk, you can always count on him.

When I first met Rev. Elias, it was always known and found it very comforting to understand that his love for life is to praise God's name in glory in song and dance. His love for prayer, music and family is close to his heart. He believes in Faith, Love and Joy and the greatest of them all is Love.... Rev. Elias motto: "It's all about the Love" or "It's all about the Aloha".

Hina's husband Olopana, an influential chief, was already an old man while fair Hina was in the spring of her youth. Dutifully she shared his bed, but her heart longed for her husband's younger brother Kahiki-ula. She often invited her handsome brother-in-law to go berry-picking. He accompanied her gladly to cool springs and creeks. They talked intimately about the lore of herbs. Olopana, aware of his advancing age, resented their friendship, but didn't interfere. Only Hina herself knew if Kahiki-ula was also her lover.

When she gave birth, however, Olopana refused to acknowledge the baby-boy as his son.

"This is a trailer for a film we shot for Showdown in Chinatown

Championships. We didn't make the deadline, but were able to

put this together. We shot and edited everything in 4 days.

For those unfamiliar with Hawaiian history, Hawaii has many

Gods and Demi-gods that roam the islands, many with turbulent

pasts. Hawaii Route 61, or better know as the Pali Highway, is a

well know area where Hawai'i's Gods interact with the residents

of the islands. The most common is when Pele, Goddess of Fire,

stops anyone driving over with pork in their car. She mistakes

the unsuspecting driver as her ex-lover Kamapua'a, the

Hog-Child demi-god.

As long as our beautiful beaches and sun exist in Hawaii, ceremonies on the beach will always have beautiful memories.

In this vow renewal of 11 years, a request was made of Kahu Parker, for their twin sons to be included in the ceremony. From our ancient ancestors, to our elders, down to our parents life begins in a gift of breath, and it's through us to which that this gift is passed on with all the teachings to hold our old ways and to adapt to modern times with better understanding of our mistakes and never to repeat them, for from the begining our elders handed down to their children the gift..... we all call life.

One final request was made from Guy and Milani, was to say a prayer for a dear friend who lived on the west side of Oahu and loved the beaches.

While Guy holds a lei offering, Rev. Parker acknowledges ancestors for their acceptence.

Trip to Maui, Iao Needle... then to Hana

It's been so busy with work as well with family time, finally here are a few pictures from Maui, June 16, 2011. Our love for Maui are as great as our love for all of the other islands.

Iao Needle State Monument Park

No matter what mountain Our Lord God shares with us whether its Iao Needle, Maui or Koolau Range Oahu , we always enjoy the views of mountains. Carved by the finger tips of God for all of us to see the beauty of his splendor.

We stopped also at the Cultural Gardens, and took a sneak peek of the gardens. Here you can have a picnic in different parts of the world different parts of the world from Chinese, Japanese, Portugese, Filipino, Korean, and of course Hawaiian and many others all in one day. What a way to travel and still be in Maui.

... and they are all quite clean and beautiful

As we continued our journey to Hana, Maui just a reminder for all you Maui travelers to Hana, THERE IS NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION AT ALL !!! and ONLY ONE MAUI RADIO STATION IS AVAILABLE, until you see a barbeque shack stop and take a quick snack and restroom break. Test your phone you just might be able to make a call.

The end result is beautiful, and our journey to through Hana and Koki Beach, Hamoa was memorable. No cell phone reception, or internet connection, and no radio reception. but a wonderful time through the journey.

Yuri Sensei with full of life I can see she's happy to be close to Trent sensei, a man with full of love for his Yuri and knowledge of martial art behind him. With Yuri sensei's smile, Rev Elias knows that it's all about the love!

To Maui for a wedding

As we leave from Honolulu to Maui on the 5:15am flight, the morning still shows the beautiful full moon with a hint of orange color from the rising sun upon her face. Mahalo KeAkua i keia la he kou maua iho oli I kanani i keia.

Before we headed on the Hana, we stopped at Iao Needle and the cultural garden a nice place to go for a picnic. (maybe next time)

As we headed on our way to Hana's winding road you can enjoy the beautiful foliage of helekonia and lauae fern and possibly lilikoi fruit better known as passion fruit. We've learned to always give yourself extra time our gps system gave us 40 minutes to our destination... TOTALLY INCORRECT... it took us approximately 2 hours, giving touring drivers, and on coming cars on sometimes a single lane road when it gets to multiple hairpin turns. You'll also find tourist out of their cars WATCH FOR TOURIST taking pictures of waterfalls and streams along the mountain side. When we finally reached Hamoa the beach was simply breath taking. Rev Elias already knew where to stop, you just had to be there to see it.

Almost secluded but you just have to be there before the crowd sets in. Get there early... no problem on having your family picnic there. While Kevin (the beautiful bride and Leonard somewhere on the street side looking out for us, but little did you know we arrived at our final destination 30 minutes after the Schwaigers got to the beach. Like the bride, .... of course simply beautiful. The picnic area overlooking the beach, (right in the middle of everything) just a little on the right of the beach is the birth place of an infamous female of royalty. If you know who she is comment it back to us.

First busy day at Honukailani Chapel

At Watabe Weddings the staff, would call Rev. Parker as sen-sei, (meaning teacher). In Japan, anyone who teaches anything is called sensei, with this when respect was demonstrated, it was called honour.

To continue with this picture set from Watabe. After the wedding the coordinators would exit with the couple to take additional pictures outside the chapel, while Rev Parker walked out through the side a photographer asked,

Question:

"Elias sensei, how is it with the many weddings done in a day, how is it that his feeling never subsides."

Rev Parker:

In every ceremony the words are same, the music are all the same, It's the love the couple brings for eachother that completes the whole aspect of the wedding, and I'll always say,

"It's about the LOVE".

I can honestly say preparing for your very own wedding can be tiresome. From ordering the cake, selecting a gown and tuxedo, reception, flowers, music, minister, and just making this one wedding the perfect wedding I will ever remember. (arrhgg I need help).

As bride and groom we put on our best face and being at our best to be beautiful and handsome for the most important day of our lives. The clock ticks till we see ourselves with our other half at the altar. Some couples may just wanna get on rollin' with the movement and get out of here, but Rev Parker .... His eyes would tear... for he would see LOVE between the couple. The LOVE they have for eachother and smile, then in a blink of an eye says "You may now seal your vows with a kiss." and pronounces you as husband and wife..... whew, can we rest now!!! Can we legally say getting married is hard work. I'm just glad we go through it once in our life.... Right?!!!

Honu Kai Lani Chapel first 10-weddings November 1, 2010

Earlier this week Rev. Parker noticed that the green construction walls are down and Honu Kai Lani Chapel is now in full view. We drove around to take a quick glance and noticed of the art deco architecture. Look closely and you'll see the honu head facing the calm seas, "the guardian of the people" one of the guardians of the hawaiian people. Still unable to walk on chapel grounds landscaping was surely needed, but I'm sure Watabe will set it's glamour for Honu Kai Lani best foot forward.

At Lanikuhonua, you would have to be there to feel the presence of (what was it) dancing palm trees shading Antoinne and Ellen's family, as they patiently wait for the wedding to start. While waiting Rev. Parker sends a silent prayer, and if you listen closely you can hear the cool breezes whispering in the air, and the ocean waters clapping on the shoreline coral reef as the bride walks to her groom.

I watched Rev. Parker as he smiles at the couple and say, "Think of yourselves when you both first met. How you would look at him so lovingly, or how would you would smile at each other and say I love you, or how you would buy each other gifts for no other reason , or to hold each other just because we know we belong to each other. Simply treat each other as boyfriend/girlfriend all over again.

After presiding five wedding ceremonies at Ko'Olina chapel, Rev. Parker arrives at Kualoa Ranch for Eric and Kelly's wedding. A beautiful setting of both mauka and makai (mountain and ocean). This request/recommendation to preside over Eric's and Kelly's wedding came from Mike Higuchi, a videographer and friend of Rev. Parker.

A beautiful day for a wedding at Kualoa Ranch, KeAkua was surely there with spiritual words from Rev. Parker, touched every heart with joy and happiness.

As Rev. Parker announces Eric and Kelly as husband and wife, family stands up for the couples first walk into married life. Congratulations to Eric and Kelly may you both have a wonderful life together.

As the rain came, it was Rev. Parker's time to show what God was all about. He mentioned while everyone ran under the tents and into the building, over the microphone. "This is a very special moment. Children are the very ones that understand the concept, that when it rains, they simply run outside and play in the rain. As we grow older we look for cover. Just give me 2 minutes. Everyone, I'm going to show you how powerful God is and use him as an example. He made it rain so that everyone would run under the tents and covering,... but here's the joy in this... this is for everyone to be together and for us

to join hands and pray."

Mana and Mele Loulu Palms Estate Wedding

Planning ahead makes sensible time....

Today Rev.Parker had the honor of presiding over six weddings at Aqua Veil Chapel, then off to a requested ceremony by Mana 6 months ago. A ceremony for Mana & Mele awaits at Loulu Palms Estate at 4:30pm. Knowing that today is Memorial Day driving out to Loulu Palms Estate was surely to be a task with families out at the North Shore beaches enjoying the sunny day. The 64 miles from Ko'Olina through Haleiwa's traffic, and finally we arrive at Pupukea to this beautiful estate hidden behind.... of course naturally.... Loulu palm treees.

One day... four generations

Before the wedding commenced, Tutuwahine (grandmother) of the bride walked through the lawn and up to Rev. Parker and asked, "Are you the Kahu?", greeting Tutuwahine with a smile and answering "Yes Tutu, I am", a breeze lightly brushed against her face and asked one special request... "Can you bless my great grand son, Isaac, jr", and with no hesitation Rev. Parker responded, "I would be honoured, Tutu."

In all forms, God's gift of life is found in many different ways. "He alo He alo", which is what we say, face to face, has deeper understanding found in the phrase "I see you", it means not only that I give my love but I give to you unconditionally life. Let our spiritual eyes that connects us to our ancestors and God, touch and be shared and let us "honi" to share the sacred and God given gift of life found in a breath (Ha).

Rev. Parker's pre-ceremony counseling with Matt and Jessika... I have three things to ask of the both of you, from this point on its no longer "You or I, its "We". This is the hardest I ask of the both of you for to make true we choices or we decisions means one lovingly giving to the other, and this is where it is difficult, for if only one person gives its one sided, so it's trying to find the balance of both people giving lovingly to each other.

The other two things are simple things, so simple that every once in awhile it gets over looked not forgotten just overlooked, and the second is.... try not to go to sleep angry, for in my path of life I have come across many who has said they didn't get a chance to say I'm sorry.

The other is always say you love each other, for again in my path of life I have come across many people that say they didn't get a chance to say I love you. These are the three things I ask for the both of you. Can we live with this?

Happy New Year!!! Things are busy here!! Were getting ready for the reception that we are doing here in Japan. Its so different than the U.S. with different rules and such. How are things in Hawaii?? We both miss Hawaii so much already!! Nao cant stop talking about when we can go back!! Gotta work hard!!!!!

Thank you Rev. for being part of our lives and were so thankful you were the one to marry us!! We look at the both of you and tell each other they are who we want to be like!! Again thank you both for being our role models!

Rev.Parker says: Today is a blessed day granted, and I thank God for what he has bestowed upon us.Early this morning,I watched Waipahu High School tennis team play Campbell and Pearl City at Pearly City High courts. Rai's first year at tennis. It was very enjoyable.

While Rev. Elias is again at his best giving a 9-4 schedule at Ko'Olina Chapel, then it's off to play music out in Waialua Church. It's a never ending schedule for Rev Parker. Sing song and praising God's name in glory. Amen

Benefits and Days Off

As I return back to the working industry, I've come to appreciate any worker who gives their sweat, and their best to situations as it comes. I recall standing in a long line to pay for the few items in my shopping basket. Impatiantly, I start tapping my feet and sigh, and think to myself "this is taking too long", then I notice a sign that says "CASHIER IN TRAINING". At the end of my transaction and recieving my change from the cashier she gives me a smile, and with a little perspiration on her forehead and a positive attitude!!... she says "Thank you, and have a great day!" as I leave the register I still see that smile on her face.

Rev. Parker says, "God has a sense of humor" when you ask for patience God doesn't snap his fingers and..... poof!!!.... you have patience.....NNNOOOOO.....he puts you a in short line with an elderly lady giving her money to the cashier and then says, "Oh my gosh, I'm short a dollar. Can I write you a check?" at this point God whispers in your ear, "Today my child, you will learn patience".

I remember Rev. Parker speaking about benefits and days off. How much endurance are you able to take? There will always be reasons why you are working. In todays economy, blessed are those that work hard and lucky are those who don't need to work. Our reasons may differ, if it's not for the money..... it's for medical benefits for you and your family. Opportunities and benefits are previliges offered to us. As for Rev. Parker, his benefits are simple, moments with his wife, spending time with his family, and singing and dancing in glory to his God In The Highest with his family. About asking for days off ?... Let me ask you this. Do you think God takes a day off? Rev. Parker says with a smile, "My boss (God) works 24/7, I don't dare ask for a day off", no complaints here.

I've known Rev. Parker to be humble and always true to his heart. You would see him smiling as he walks towards you, and hear his joys in his laughter. "Has there ever been a bad day", someone asked. "That would not be the truth if there was none. Everyone has their own obstacles, trial and tribulations, that no matter how bad my day is, there would be someone else out there worst than of mine. I just thank the Lord for the blessings of my day, smile and move forward.

The Essence of the Maker

The canoe makers believed that each log has a spirit (mana). And each log, even as it is cut, is not dead. As one works on a canoe, the life of the log comes into the canoe as the spirit of the builder goes into the canoe. Each canoe speaks of something different as it goes through the stages of creation. Some people name a canoe as the log is felled. Some people name a canoe before it is finished, some wait until it is completed. Keep in mind that as the process evolves, so does the feeling that ultimately effects the final naming.
